Why effective networking is now more critical than ever


Whether you are a graduate looking for a job, looking to create job security in your company, or interested in maintaining good connections with your clients, networking is now more important than ever. A lot of research shows that professional networks lead to more business opportunities, broader and deeper knowledge, improved ability to innovate, and faster advancement. Networking isn't just a one-time thing. The whole point behind networking is to build and maintain long term relationships with people of similar interests. Building and nurturing professional relationships helps improve the quality of work and increases job satisfaction.

1.Be truly interested-

The question of who you network with matters more. This way you don't have to waste time networking with everyone and can focus on the ones that you are truly interested to connect with this allows you to prepare well in advance regarding ideas and interests pertaining to them.

2.Try to be helpful-

Instead of focusing on what you might get out of the networking event, you must first study how you can contribute to their success, in addition to how you stand to benefit from their knowledge. Though networking might not be an easy and fast approach to building a long-lasting relationship. But making it a two-way process of giving and taking and can open the door for a firmer relationship. People appreciate those who understand their values and identities and make them feel important.

3.Network outside the box-

You don't have to attend the traditional cocktail party in order to be successful while networking. Look for opportunities to network strategically in every facet of your life. For instance, Volunteering is an excellent way to develop your network, show your value, learn about different career paths and opportunities, and to give back and do good.

We know that networking is critical for our careers and yet we sometimes find it taxing and difficult since it is a long process without knowing the benefits we can get out of efficient networking. The three tips mentioned above can help in making networking easier for you.
